On Thursday afternoon, 13 August, a woman from Dora was killed in a single vehicle crash.
According to Alabama state troopers the accident happened shortly before 5 p.m. in the afternoon on Thornton Lake Road, eight miles south of Sumiton in Walker County, Alabama.
They went on to say that 44 year old Margaret Leean Hill was a passenger in a 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport being driven by 41 year old Darrell Wayne Morgan II, also of Dora. For reasons as yet unknown, the vehicle went off the roadway and hit a tree.
Hill was pronounced dead at the scene and Morgan suffered unspecified injuries and was transported to the University of Alabama hospital, Birmingham where his current medical status is unknown.
The Alabama State Troopers are investigating and they say that no other vehicle was involved. The focus of the investigation is why Morgan lost control of the vehicle.
