On March 30, there was a fatal accident involving a firefighter in Winston County.
According to Alabama State Troopers, 56 year old Charles Monroe Tucker was a volunteer firefighter along with his 16 year old son, Austin who was a Junior Member of Lynn Fire and Rescue. They both responded to a grass and woods fire which was on Winston County Road 37. Once the scene was cleared, Tucker and his son were driving home when their own pickup truck left the road for reasons as yet unknown and hit an empty logging trailer which was parked. Both were flown to UAB Medical in Birmingham where Firefighter Tucker died on April 2. Austin Tucker is still in UAB Children’s Hospital where he is still recovering from his injuries.
The fatal accident is still under investigation by the Alabama Highway Patrol
