On Thursday, October 20, there was a fatal hit and run accident on Highway 69 in Walker County
According to Alabama State Troopers, the accident happened around 2 p.m. on Highway 69 northbound between Burrows Crossing Road and Blackwater Bridge in Walker County when a 1995 Honda Nighthawk motorcycle was hit by a vehicle which then left the scene. The motorcycle driver, 23 year old Jason Key was taken to UAB Hospital where his condition is currently unknown, and his 9 year old passenger, a boy from Jasper, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later, the man who fled the scene, 25 year old Tomas Hugo, was tracked down and arrested and charged with the felony crime of leaving the scene of an accident. He was taken to the Walker County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
