Man Died Following Fatal Two Vehicle Crash

Early in the morning on Friday, August 12, there was what turned out to be a fatal two vehicle crash in Birmingham.

According to authorities, the accident happened at about 4:30 a.m. at Five Mile Road and Orchid Road, when 56 year old Billy James Cannon, who was the only occupant in his Mitsubishi Endeavor, pulled out in front of a Buick and his vehicle was struck on the driver’s side door.

Following the accident Cannon said he was uninjured and he returned home, however the next day he felt unwell and went to Grandview Medical Center where he underwent surgery for internal injuries. He then remained in hospital until he died on the morning of Tuesday, August 16.

This case highlights the importance of seeking medical attention after any car accident, even though you may appear not to be injured, as internal injuries could have occurred but not become apparent until several hours later.
