On Tuesday, October 20, a woman was killed in a two vehicle crash on Highway 280.
According to Alabama State Troopers the accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. when 25 year old Jordan Alexa Mays of Birmingham was driving a 2008 Honda CRV on U.S. 280 at the intersection of Shelby County 280 near Dunavant Valley Road. Her vehicle was hit by a 2000 International tractor trailer being driven by 39 year old Chassidy Renae Garner-James, of Holly Springs, Mississippi.
Mays was pronounced dead at the scene and her young son who was with her in the vehicle was taken to the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham with minor injuries.
James was also injured and transported to Grandview Medical Center where her injuries are also said to be minor.
The accident is still under investigation and at this time no charges have been filed.
